There’s no doubt that luck plays a major role in short term poker success but over the long run, poker is certainly a game of skill. Like any classic game of skill, poker demands study and practice from those who want to achieve mastery.

1. One payer that acts as a dealer. This place is called the button and it rotates clockwise after every person.

2. The two players to the left side of the dealer are called the small blind and the big blind.

3. These two positions demand forced bets of a pre- determined amount and are the only players to put money in a bank before the cards are dealt (if no ante in place).

4. Every person which play then receives two cards face down. These are called “hole”.

5. When all hole cards have been dealt, the first one betting round begins with the person sitting immediately to the left side of the big blind. This person can fold, call or raise.

6. Betting then continues clockwise, with each person having the option to fold, call the amount of the highest bet before them, bet or raise.

7. When the first betting round is completed, three community cards are flipped face up on  table. This is flop.

8. The second circleof betting begins with the first remaining player seated to the left side of the button. The betting resumes, clockwise, with each person having the option to check, bet, fold or call.

9. When the next round of betting is finished, a fourth community card is flipped face up. This is turn.

10. The third circle of betting commences with the first remaining player sitting to the left side of the button.

11. When the third circle of betting is over, a fifth community card is flipped face up on the. This is river.

12. The fourth circle of betting starts with the first remaining player seated to the left side of the button. The betting continues to go clockwise.
